FROM RESEARCH TO IMPACT: TOWARDS JUST AND RESILIENT AGRI-FOOD SYSTEMS

As Itanya Africa Group, we were invited to attend the conference "FROM RESEARCH TO IMPACT: TOWARDS JUST AND RESILIENT AGRI-FOOD SYSTEMS" to present our abstract on "The Role of Gender in shaping adaptive and transforming capacities for building resilience." The conference was co organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the CGIAR GENDER Impact Platform from 09th - 12th October 2023 in New Delhi, India. This conference addressed the gender and social inequalities at the heart of food systems and aimed to promote the sharing of cutting-edge knowledge on gender and inclusion in food systems to help bridge the gap between research and practice and foster gender-equal and socially inclusive, resilient food systems. The conference actively engaged a diverse group of researchers and other actors from academic and research institutes, NARES, NGOs, CSOs, donors, policymakers, the private sector, and more, working toward the shared goal of equitable food systems transformation.

The EAGC Expo provided farmers in the Lower Eastern region an opportunity to explore climate smart solutions to foster resilience and sustainability. As IAG we ensured that 150 of our farmers had the opportunity to spend the day learning even as we showcased our interventions. These interventions included the water pans which was done in partnership with Sunculture which showcased their solar water pumps, we also got to educate farmers and other stakeholders on our capacity building interventions.
